There are a number of open access projects based at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) that are affiliated with auPSI:
OAK Law Project
The Open Access to Knowledge (OAK) Law Project is led by Professor Brian Fitzgerald and funded by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. The project has developed legal protocols for managing copyright issues in an open access environment. It has focused on providing open access to research publications and literature, particularly journal articles or other publications that have resulted from publicly funded research. The project has produced a number of reports and guides explaining how copyright can be managed to provide open access to research publications.
Legal Framework for e-Research Project

In undertaking the OAK Law Project, additional areas of inquiry emerged. The Legal Framework for e-Research Project explores these areas, in particular it examines the structural underpinnings of the legal framework to support e-Research and considers how open access can be provided to research data. The project has undertaken a survey of e-Research practices in Australia and has produced a number of publications about effective data management. The Legal Framework for e-Research Project is funded by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and is led by Professor Brian Fitzgerald.
Creative Commons Australia
http://www.creativecommons.org.au/
Creative Commons offers flexible copyright management tools for creative work. It provides a range of licences that creators can use to manage their copyright in the online environment, each offering its own specific protections and freedoms. Creative Commons has built upon the “all rights reserved” of traditional copyright to create a voluntary “some rights reserved” system.
Creative Commons Australia (CCau) is the Australian derivative project of the international Creative Commons project. It manages the Australian versions of the Creative Commons licences and conducts research and education activities designed to foster a creative and innovative community in our region. Hosted at QUT in Brisbane, CCau is devoted to the promotion of Creative Commons in Australia. The CCau project is lead by Professor Brian Fitzgerald and Tom Cochrane, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Technology, Information and Learning Support, QUT.
