Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2011

The United Nations' Sixth Annual IGF Meeting will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on 27-30 September 2011 at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). The proposed main theme of the meeting is: 'Internet as a catalyst for change: access, development, freedoms and innovation'.
The 2011 meeting agenda also covers the following key themes.
- IG4D / Internet governance for development (IG4D)
- Emerging Issues
- Managing critical Internet resources
- Security, openness and privacy
- Access and diversity
- Taking stock and the way forward
Each of the key themes includes a range of workshops designed to explore detailed issues related to the main theme from different perspectives. The workshops and best practice forums will be preparing a background paper and report on these events.
Professor Anne Fitzgerald will be participating in Workshop 123 which is entitled Public Sector Information online: towards a Global policy framework. The Workshop will be focused on global policy on the re-use of government data and is part of IGF 2011's theme of ‘Security, Openness and Privacy’. A IGF has also published a background paper for Workshop 123.
